Dubuffet was one of the pioneering artists in the Informel movement. The Informel artist struggles with several problems on the painting surface, and Dubuffet performed a huge role in one of the style's most important experiments–the creation of a new painterly media. While "Cow with a Beautiful Tail" extends the medium to its extremes, in other works the artist employed a Collage technique mixing dirt with his pigments to blur the line between painting and nature.
