[Gallery Talks "Permanent Collection Galleries, One Work"]

These talks will focus on a single work currently on display in the Permanent Collection and depicting the themes of saints, biblical stories or mythology. Volunteer staff members will give 10-minute talks twelve times a day, for a total of six art works discussed each day.

[Le Corbusier Main Building Architecture Tour]

Volunteer staff members will give guided tours of the Main Building, designed by the world-renowned French architect, Le Corbusier.
Each tour will last approximately 40 minutes.

How to participate: Free tickets are needed for each tour. These free tickets will be distributed 30 minutes before each tour.
Each tour is limited to 20 visitors.

[Bijutool (Art Enjoyment Activity Tool)]

Let’s enjoy the artworks of the Permanent Collection with Bijutool! Bijutool is usually reserved to adults accompanying children aged 6 to 10, but on Fun Days everyone can use it. Great fun for both adults and children!

[Concert in the Forecourt]

A brass concert will be held in front of The Gates of Hell sculpture in the NMWA Forecourt. A great variety of fun music will be performed!

[Let's make an original NMWA Collection badge!]

This year, each admission ticket is decorated with an artwork from the NMWA Collection. Let's find out which part of which artwork is represented on our ticket and then transform it into an original badge!

[NMWA Puzzle]

The NMWA Collection artworks have been made into puzzles! Let's look at the artwork and complete the puzzle! Available from beginner to advanced levels.

[Gallery Talks
"Permanent Collection Galleries, One Work"]

The NMWA began with the Matsukata Collection as its collection. These talks will focus on a single work currently on display in the galleries, drawn primarily from the Matsukata Collection. Volunteer staff members will give 10-minute talks seven times a day, for a total of seven art works discussed each day.

[Printmaking Techniques]

[Print Self-Guided Tour]

These Junior Passport Self-Guided Tours are normally only distributed to elementary and junior school-aged visitors. On Fun Days, however, they are available to all who ask for them. We hope you will enjoy using your Junior Passport as you look closely and carefully at the prints on display.

<<Concert in the Forecourt>>

A concert will be held in front of The Gates of Hell sculpture in the NMWA Forecourt. The musical selection will please all visitors, from children to adults.

Fun Day 2007

On the National Museum of Western Art Fun Days, the museum is open all day as it provides various programs for the enjoyment of the museum and its art.
In 2007, Fun Day were held on the weekend of May 12-13 in 2007 and featured "Bijutool" rental services, gallery talks, architecture tours, stamp rallies with clues, a secret printing studio, and open-sky concerts. Approximately 8,000 visitors enjoyed the programs during the two days.
