Family Programs

Two programs for children aged 6 to 10 and accompanying adults are offered on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month when admission to the museum's collection exhibition is free. The two are: a service that rents art appreciation tools (instruments), named Bijutool (from the words "bijutsu" [art] and tool); the other is a creative experiential program called Doyo Bijutsu, or "Saturday Arts."

Past Programs

Bijutool (Art Enjoyment Activity Tool)

Bijutool is a portable kit to enhance visitor enjoyment of paintings and sculptures at the museum. Each Bijutool contains different tools, games, and activities for different artworks. These materials encourage children (ages 6-10) and adults to enjoy art works together in the galleries. Families visiting with chilidren for the first time and those new to the art world are welcome to use Bijutool!

No reservations needed. Check the schedule below and stop by the checkout desk in the permanent collection gallery at the NMWA!
