Miró's works usually feature abstract symbols based on nature. Here, extremely simplified symbols of the sun and stars form the important structural elements of the composition. At the same time, this primitive and slightly awkward expression has a grandeur that allows the viewer to imagine the expansive heavens. This sense of infinite scale is characteristic of Miró's post-war works.
