Mariotto di Nardo was a painter active in Florence from the end of the 14th century until the early part of the 15th century. He was a prolific artist and painted many large altarpiece for important churches. This work is the lower portion, called the predella, of a triptych altarpieces made for Santo Stefano in Pane in Rifredi, near Florence.
